History

Skunk #1 was the first cannabis strain bred specifically for indoor production, achieving genetic stability across four generations of inbreeding. After the 1982 Sinsemilla Tips raid in California, the line was carried to the Netherlands, where it became the genetic backbone of European seed breeding through the 1980s and 90s.

Sensory & chemical profile

Pungent skunky-sweet aroma, dense conical buds, 14–17% THC in modern phenotypes. Myrcene-dominant with secondary caryophyllene.

UK medical relevance

Rarely prescribed under its original name in UK clinics, but its genetics are present in the vast majority of modern THC-dominant medical strains.

Legacy

Without Skunk #1 there is no Cheese, no Super Silver Haze, no White Widow, no Sour Diesel.
