History

Bubba Kush was selected from a single 'mystery' female pollinated by an OG Kush male around 1996. Berger named the resulting pheno after himself and propagated it as a clone-only cut. It has never been fully stabilised in seed form.

Sensory & chemical profile

Coffee, chocolate, hashish aroma. Squat, dense, dark-purple flowering. 17–22% THC. Heavy myrcene + caryophyllene + linalool.

UK medical relevance

Frequently described in patient reporting for severe insomnia and neuropathic pain. Its terpene profile (myrcene + linalool) is what clinicians look for when prescribing a 'true heavy indica' chemovar.

Legacy

Defined the modern coffee-and-hashish indica template; parent of Pre-98 Bubba, Master Kush hybrids and countless purple indicas.

Notable descendants

  • Pre-98 Bubba Kush
  • Bubba's Gift
  • Purple Bubba

Heritage strain profiles describe the historical lineage and chemovar template. Modern UK pharmacy SKUs derived from these lines will differ in cannabinoid content, terpene ratio and effect.
